Roach ,Rudd and bream to double figures, carp to mid doubles, tench to about 5lb and perch. The Match lake offers great fishing for the Match or pleasure angler.Comfortable swims 30 in all ,nice gradual sloping banks with a depth of 6-8ft at 11m dropping to a mid lake depth of 12ft, In the past has been very weedy in the summer although we try to keep some swims clear,As we have had no major re-stocking of this lake for a few years we did a large stocking of 10-12inch Carp mixed commons and mirrors,This was a major success with very little weed showing this summer and nearly all swims open .The Carp have put on a incredible amount of weight with most fish 3-4 lb which is a rapid growth rate, With the hot summer the match lake did go ver green and looked a bit like a old farm pond but with the lack of sunlit this stopped the weed growth. April 2026 we have another large delivery of Carp and Tench scheduled mixed sizes, We also plan to move a number of quality fish into the specimen lake.
This incredible fishery holds some fantastic fish. Carp to nearly 40lb and a good head of fish over 30lb and many in the 25-30lb range ,we are always adding good quality doubles from the Match lake to ensure a continuation of quality fish. sadly this year we did loose Rosie that was just over 40lb very sad but nothing lives for ever, This lake also hold some massive Bream up to 15lb often seen in the pages of fishing magazines and videos. This year the Tench have made a remarkable re-appearance with fish up to 7lb suddenly showing up. We have over the years seen some very good Pike but because of the large quantity of silver fish these dont come out as often, but a healthy population of mid doubles i am sure the Pike angler will still have good days. Unlike the Match lake the specimen lake has sufferered with high weed growth this year ideal for the fish as this provides cover and food but hard work for the angler. We are now going to indroduce Blue dye this year to break the cycle of ever increasing weed growth, Hopefully this will help the anglers and may make it more diffulcult for the predators we may even see our first bright blue otter.
